In order, to live a holistic lifestyle in a wretched world, we must understand that “through Christ we have everything that we need, we are partakers of His divine nature, and that we have been freed from old corrupt sinful nature” (Nelson, 2007, p. 2000). Therefore, we must take heed to the devastation that took place amongst the people in Biblical times when God’s raft fell upon them. The world that we live in is a cesspool of sin, therefore, we cannot be ignorant, and continue to make the same mistakes as our ancestors. Living in sexual immorality, reaping finances from corrupted seeds, and taking each other’s life as if it is worthless are not going to soften the heart of God to continue to give us passes. We need to remember that every action has a reaction, and may we understand the passes that the Lord gives us through repentance should not be taken lightly. David tells us in Psalm 103:10, “God does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.” The Bible explains to us, how to deal with wickedness and sinful behavior. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). 47). In addition, “Gnosticism was a religious and philosophical movement in Europe and in the Middle East that flourished from about the A.D.” (Gnosticism, 2016, p. 1). Docetism is the lack of belief that Jesus was fully human. It claims that Jesus held the appearance of a human being, but only in the same manner as the angels appeared before the Lord in the Old Testament in human form (Stott, 1988, p. 47). Cerinthianism is a term used to describe the disbelief that Jesus was not immaculately conceived by the Virgin Mary. The people that believe in Cerinthianism believe that He was conceived by cohabitation between Mary and Joseph (Stott, 1988, p. 49). 1 John opposes Gnosticism by stating in 1 John 4: 2-3, “By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.” In 2 John, he opposes Gnosticism in 2 John 1:10, “If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting”. God warns us about false teachers and Prophets, and even in this modern day they still exist. In order for another generation, not to be corrupted by their false doctrine, we have to study the Word of God more, and have it penetrate our heart.
