Summary Of General Zaroff's Prey

The story by Richard Connell, is a story about a man named General Zaroff who loved hunting. Though after hunting all over the world for almost every big game species. He started getting bored with hunting. He thought and thought about how to make hunting more interesting. He tried different weapons such as bows, but this didn’t help either. He couldn’t find anything to make it more interesting. Then all the sudden he had an idea, he didn’t need a new weapon, he needed a new prey. Zaroff’s new prey is human beings. There are two types of people the hunters and the prey. There were only two real hunters in this story, and one person who calls himself a hunter. 225) I agree with this statement, what Whitney said is very true. A hunter is always a hunter, the prey will always be hunted. For example, the bear is the hunter and the deer is the prey, that is never going to change. Who will never see a deer stalking a bear getting ready to kill it. Some people may say this is wrong, because they are thinking of about the times the prey turns around and kills the hunter. For example, a human is hunting a leopard, and the leopard kills the human instead. The leopard is not turning into the hunter, it’s defending itself. The leopard is doing this to survive. In the story when Zaroff is hunting Rainsford, Rainsford makes traps to kill him. Isn’t that what hunters try to do, but Rainsford isn’t hunting Zaroff it’s the other way around. I will say it once again defending yourself does not make you the hunter.Though maybe Whitney was using this statement metaphorically. He could be talking about people are.
