Fahrenheit 451 is about a dystopian world, which means a future where things that are good now are either destroyed or turned into something worrying. The government is worried that people will revolt if they read books because they think they don’t have the best life that they could. It’s a story about a future where books are banned because people don’t have a long enough attention span to read them. Since they don’t have any books, people aren’t creative and everyone is the same and nothing really changes. And when the rare occasion does come up when there is a person who actually thinks for themselves, they “accidentally” die or disappear, like Montag’s neighbor, Clarisse.

In 1947 Ray Bradbury was worried about the government’s efforts to control artists in Hollywood and thought the government was taking away freedoms and creativity. Based on Bradbury’s own experience with a policeman, he decided to write “The Pedestrian”, which became “The Fireman”, which eventually went on to be “Fahrenheit 451”. Around 1950 the Cold War started in earnest, and the Americans were increasingly worried about the use of atomic weapons and communism. This is when Bradbury decided to write the ending of his book Fahrenheit 451.
Fahrenheit 451 was published in 1953 by Ray Bradbury, and was considered one of his best works yet. Fahrenheit 451 won numerous awards including the “Retro” Hugo Award in 2004. The “Retro” Hugo Award is an award that has been given only four times. Eventually Bradbury decided to make a video game based of of his bestselling book.
