The rebellious teenagers acted as to rebels that were dangerous, wearing leather jackets, drinking gin, reading provocative literature, and staying out all night. However, throughout the short story, the narrator tends to mock himself and his friends because they both know they aren't really dangerous and only show their rebellious side on the outside.
