Ender’s lesson
In the book Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, unfriendly aliens mounted an attack on Earth. After repelling the buggers, Colonel Graff creates a military school aimed to find the next great commander. Finding interest into Ender, he is recruited to battle school. Here, students study strategy, tactics, military history and goes deeper into math and science. At school, Ender finds himself at the top spot, which impresses Colonel Graff. Ender graduate from battle school and is qualified for command school, which involves him playing battle simulators and commanding armies. Colonel Graff tricks Ender into thinking the battle simulator against the aliens were fake. Although Ender defeated the buggers, he was unsatisfied what happened.

In order to get there, he must travel on a spaceship which is filled with other students. During the ride, the commander deliberately showed a liking towards Ender. “... That’s Ender Wiggin. …. He’s going to be a commander when you’re still in diapers.” This provoked the other students as they were jealous that Ender already got the attention of Colonel Graff. They started to tease and smack him in the back. Ender obviously disliked this, waited for someone who dares to throw another punch and grabbed the student's arm. Since Ender was unfamiliar with null gravity (like space), the action broke the boy left arm. “Ender felt sick… I am Peter. I’m just like him. ” He recently drew the conclusion that he was like Peter. He tries to make himself feel better by saying things like, “it was self-defense.” This was another case of harming others, in order to save himself. This represents Ender being violent to save himself, but not in a selfish way. He had let Peter win “bugger vs alien” and helped the alien find a place to live. This shows him as unselfish because helping the alien doesn’t gain him anything.
After several months in battle school, Ender found a game where the mouse had to drink one of the two cups that sat in front of him. One of them is poisonous and the other was harmless. The designer of the game made it impossible to win. Ender was frustrated every
