Ender’s Game Adaptation Movie Review Gavin Hood’s Adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game is an adventurous thrill ride. Ender Wiggin played by Asa Butterfield, is a third that was not really appreciated for being the third child in his family, a third that ended up being a successful recruit for the Battle School, where Ender is being pushed to his breaking point with all of the lies they are feeding him. It seems this movie took a lot of time and effort to create, with all of the scenes and technology upgrades. This movie is a good adaptation to the book because it brings all of the action moments in the book to the screen.…
Most referred to as Ender instead of his first name, he learns that in order to survive according to the government, he needs to sacrifice his life and family for Battle School. Throughout the book, Ender considers himself a ruthless killer that will turn into his older brother, Peter. In Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card, Andrew Ender Wiggin fulfills the apocalyptical hero archetype because he faces the possibility of Earth going to war unless he sacrifices his innocence. When Colonel Graff goes down to Earth to recruit Ender Wiggin he didn’t tell him the full truth about what they wished him to do.…
How would you feel if you were approached at random in your own home to go to a place where each day you’d be fighting for your life? Well, this was what happened to Ender Wiggins. Ender’s Game is a science fiction story focusing on battles between different armies throughout space. It leads to a search for different soldiers all trying for one ultimate goal: beating the returning champions, the “Buggers.” When looking at both the film and the novel, in my opinion, the book was superior.…
Peter is one of the greatest influences in Ender's life, even if Ender refuses to admit it. Because Peter was so cruel and violent towards Ender, often physically abusing him(page 12). Due to this End began to imitate Peter's actions when he played the war games ruthlessly. This led to Ender being a remarkable commander. Through the violent ‘games’ Peter coerced Ender to play, Ender was almost forced to develop a prodigious skill to strategize battles.…
Ender followed the simple Hero Cycle, flying to his new world, Battle School, through space to begin his long journey as a soon-to-be savior beginning at six years old.…
Joseph Cambell’s hero's journey, was based on his idea of a monomyth. Which sparked the idea of a young boy starting a journey at a very young age, by the well known Orson Scott Card. Orson Scott Card was inspired by this in order to create the award winning novel, Ender’s Game. This novel is about a boy named Ender and how he began his hero’s journey at the age of six to later on in his training to be tricked into doing something so immense, which he did not anticipate would have happened so soon. Andrew “Ender” Wiggin is indeed a hero because he Crossed the First Threshold, dealt with The Belly of the Whale, experienced The Ultimate Boom, and in the end, he finally had the Freedom to Live his normal life.…
In Ender’s Game, the story revolves around one main element of science fiction. Aliens. Throughout the entire book, aliens pose a constant threat to mankind. These aliens, known as “buggers”, have already had multiple bloodsheds with the humans and are on the verge of a final war. Andrew “Ender” Wiggins is sent up into space to train and master his battle techniques so he can defeat the buggers.…
Ender’s Game is a fascinating story of a boy, Ender Wiggin, facing a multitude of mesmerizing dilemmas, which he brilliantly solves with his own unique and genius mind. In the story, Ender encounters many different characters with different characteristics. Most of those in which Ender encounters can be seen as a good or bad character.…
He grew to have a feeling he had not had in a long time; hope. That lead him to declare to not rest until he finds a new safe place for the race. Ender also adds that he will “tell [their] story to [his] people, so that perhaps in time they can forgive you, too (Card 369). Possibly Valentine's being there waiting for him also pushed him to doing an extraordinary act of humbleness. Time is what changed him.…
Just a few weeks into Enders training, he hates the position Graff once again put him in, because his schedule never leaves him to socialize with others. Nonetheless Ender does not even get the chance to eat with any of the others. Although Ender is never given time to socialize with the others, he will soon come to realize what it all had been for. Ender is awoken to find a man sitting in his room, thinking he was mentally ill, Ender does his daily exercises and the man, being Mazer Rackham , grabs his leg purposely trying to get Ender to fight back. This teaches Ender to be prepared for any obstacle that might come his way at any given time.…
Violence is a behavior that involves physical abuse, intended to hurt or cause damage to others. Many people use violence because it is in the nature of humanity, and it is something that is released when people feel anger. The novel Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, has a drastic amount of violence throughout most of the novel. Children are trained at a battle school to defeat an alien race that caused damage to humanity in the past. It is shocking to adults that such a book is claimed to be a children’s book.…
Imagine being born an outcast and forced to end a war. That’s what life is like for Ender Wiggin, the protagonist in the novel Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. Ender is a third child in a world where having more than two children is obscure. The only reason he was ever born was to become a commander and defeat the alien threat known as the buggers. To do this Ender is conscripted to Battle School, a place where kids are put against each other in null gravity to learn about the tactics of war.…
Valentine appeals to Ender, for her sake, to destroy the buggers and save mankind. Valentine’s plea urges Ender and also gives him the courage to return to space and enter Command School. This return is Ender’s rebirth where it gives him enough strength and conviction to see him through the harder trials he must face in the…
The science fiction book that I read is Armada by Ernest Cline. After reading his first book Ready Player One I had really high hopes for Armada. Ready Player One is a big nerd adventure kind of like Willy Wonka but in a different setting. Armada on the other hand is more of a stereotypical save the world, find your dead dad, and get the girl type. Armada has many fun elements.…
