Summary Of Edward Bloor's Tangerine

Crack! The sound of lightening striking in Tangerine County. The same lightening that strikes at the same time everyday. The same lightning that caused a ripple of heartbreaking occurrences. The same lightning that caused a wave of sorrow to flood Tangerine County. As well as environmental disasters there is sibling rivalry between two brothers, this happens in many families all over the world, however, in Paul Fisher’s world it’s on a level of abuse that’s seen by his parents, but not controlled by them. These events unfold in the book Tangerine written by Edward Bloor.

Imagine keeping secrets from your parents. Imagine stealing expensive jewelry to act “cool.” This was the life of Erik Fisher. Ever since Erik was older he started acting ferocious. For instances, “She (Erik’s mom) held up a white cigarette butt and said, You don't know anything about this, do you? No. I found it in the garage, behind the water heater.” This evidence illustrates how suspicious Erik was acting before moving to Tangerine, Florida. After a few days of going to a new school Erik made a new friend named Author. Author was a very quiet and sneaky boy who has been in situations with the police. This was not the type of friend Erik needed. A few months went by of Author and Erik acting sneaky. Until Author was pleaded guilty of murdering their friend Luis Cruz. Therefore, Author was locked up that same day. That’s when Erik’s little brother explained to the police and their parents that it was Erik’s idea to murder and kill Luis. That same day Erik’s dad had to have a meeting with Author’s parents explaining to them that Author and Erik have stole meaningful jewelry from neighbors to give to girls in …show more content…

Apparently. “We wanted to find a way to keep you from always hating your brother.” Paul’s whole life was affected by this lie. Paul consistently got bullied by his brother and people in and out of school. Paul had no faith in himself.
