In his spoken word “Lift Off”, Donovan Livingston uses narration to exemplify how we need to be treating students so they can achieve greatness. He gives a story of how his teacher found a way that worked best for him and his energy. In the fifth stanza, Livingston states “She gave me a stage. A platform. She told me that our stories are ladders, that make it easier for us to touch the stars” (Livingston). He did this to connect with his audience by showing his world to show how the choices someone makes for you can positively affect your future. He points out that helping people so they can achieve greatness is better than bringing them down, informing the audience that they have the power to be the good, to do whats right. Livingston
