Summary Of Donald Trump's Speech At Snap-On In Kenosha

On April 18, 2017, President Donald Trump gave a speech at Snap-On in Kenosha, Wisconsin to talk about the “Buy American and Hire American” executive order he would be signing. He starts his speech with a quick thank you to the people in the crowd for the support they have given his administration in the race for the presidency and after the race was won. He then went on to vaguely review what his administration has accomplished within their first ninety days in office. After thanking many people who helped him along the way, President Trump continued by explaining that the United States has lost 70,000 factories since the addition of China to the World Trade Organization. He further emphasized this number by calling it one of “our disasters” since it took away many jobs and caused less products to be “Made in the USA”. With signing this executive order, the Trump administration aims to “defend [US] workers, protect [US] jobs, and finally put America first”. In an effort to protect American workers, the executive order will declare that the US government must “aggressively promote” the use of American-made products. He does not state exactly what the problems are, but states that they will not just find an answer, but a solution to the problem. He continues by talking about the North American Free Trade Agreement and how the system is not working for the American people any more. He explains how the system is flawed because they have very long waiting periods and regulations when trying to negotiate with Mexico. However, he failed to go into much more detail than that and concluded this idea by saying that if the situation does not improve soon, the US will have to “get rid of NAFTA once and for
