The capitan killing Oscar can be compared to honor killing. Honor killing is a discriminatory way of controlling women's behavior (Reading E:121). The killings were specifically done when a woman disobayed or did something sexualy unmoral. Like the women Oscar is weaker and has less power than the capitan, making him an easy kill. By the end of OW Yunior tells us of the letters sent by Oscar explaining his success with Ybon (Diaz: 333). He tells about their little vacation on how he was finally able to experience love yet he was killed for it. Oscar was disobedient to the capitan and did what he was warned not to do ending his life. Reading E explains how China suffers the most suicide incidents most of them from women.
