Cruisers are an eclectic lot. We're a strange mix of business owners, plumbers, homemakers, Vietnam vets, academics, nurses, computer geeks... and the list goes on. What's magical about our chemistry is the fusion of random knowledge, binding us together like a single central nervous system. In addition, we've got grit. And, we needed it all when the strongest cyclone to ever make landfall in the southern hemisphere headed towards Fiji.…

    1. When Ackerman begins by stating that “Love is the great intangible,” she is trying to say that love is the clarity of life. Love in a scenes, is something that has such a strong meaning to us as humans that when it is shown we cannot help but acknowledge its presence. This word however also is a word that we cannot fully understand. In the first paragraph when the author talks about the little girl asking her parent how much they love them, the response of the parent is 100 times the biggest thing we could think of.…

The latest part of the reading has gone by really slow as the past 5 chapters only seem to be in to two different settings during a single night. It seems like Holden is recollecting way more than a real human being would be able to recollect. He is telling us every single possible detail about where he is and what he is experiencing. I have also found it hard to connect to this portion of the book as he his dunk for a good bit of it. The part I was able to connect with the book is Phoebe as she acts similar to my younger brother.…

    1) I liked how she starts her story with the emotional moment of the accident, that part made me feel dizzy and disorientated like her, at the beginning it was kind of hard to interpreted the text and what was happening at the time. The parts were the police were treating her like an animal really made me mad and I felt a little bit of impotence when hearing about how they waited so long to help her and they hurt her even more. I was actually disgusted but not surprised of the way the police treated her in the hospital, it was to be expected, besides she “killed” one of their own and on top of it she was a woman of color. I admire Assata greatly in this chapter, she is so brave and has a strong will of power, if I were in her place I would have cried and begged since the first punch to the stomach. I can connect the way they treated Assata during…

July-Day 18 I can barely pull myself out of bed today, it's cold outside the blankets that have kept me safe since my descent to dreamland where I have been since 6:30 PM. I've slept for 12 hours and I want to keep sleeping. I want to stay in bed where nothing happens to any extremes. I dreamt of lighthouses and the light it casts out over the clear blue gulf sending a signal of safety to those passing by. I wonder about all the things that are like lighthouses to me.…

Their piece centers on the contradictions students face regarding their time spent in general education courses. The authors frame their observations of the student’s concerns around these theories.…

The degree of interaction the criminal has with her unlawful object should hold a great deal of weight when deciding how to administer repercussions. No attempt should merit the full weight of a completed crime’s sentence, but the severity of the penalty should increase in harmony with the amount of effort the expectant violator expends. The attempt should not merit full offense because the full extent of damage has not been incurred and the possibility that one might not complete the full amount of damage if given the chance should be considered. As Joel Feinberg has mentioned in the article “The Classical Debate” the austerity of the punishment must be in line with the severity of the crime else it undermines the system of deterrents (800).…
