The author of Dei Filius: Dogmatic constitution on the Catholic faith, gave a very in depth yet intriguing explanation of not just who God is and how we perceive this ultimate being to be, but what exactly he means to us individually and as a society as well. In short, God is our savior, he is the creator of heaven and earth. With his everlasting love for us he sent his only son in attempt to teach us what our purpose is on this earth and how to go about living here in order to save us and give us the ability to share in everlasting life in the presence of his company: So what does this all mean? These teachings have been passed down to us by generations. Both written and unwritten beliefs have been entrusted to us from the apostles that witnessed this first hand from Christ himself. We find all of these teaching to hold truth as they were protected and preserved by the Holy Spirit. Thus the reason we continue to view them on such a sacred and holy level. Therefore we don’t attempt to understand these teachings in any different light that would contradict earlier dictations. Faith is such an important aspect while trying to understand traditions and teachings of the Catholic Church. Our faith is a direct gift from God as he gave the ability to exhibit this feeling in everyone. We are all called to act on this and embrace it. This is because the ability to satisfy God without faith is non-existent. Therefore in order to partake in an everlasting life with God and have eternal life we must act on this. We are all called to thank God for these gifts. We all called to conform to Christ’s teachings and live these values out in our everyday lives. Almost in a sense that I should motivate myself to be more open to the teachings given by the Catholic Church and continue to learn and gain knowledge about my faith everyday. We are all called to do so. This being said, one must also realize that this task is in no way easy and there will be times when ones faith will be tested. There will be times when we don’t make the right choices and do not respect these amazing gifts God has bestowed upon us. We are all being called to recognize Gods unconditional love for us and all of the sacrifices Jesus made for us in an attempt to give us the amazing gift of everlasting life. In addition, I feel that this piece gave me a new outlook on two things in particular. First being just how special life is and that I need to potentially think twice before I perform some of my actions and understand that whenever I think I am having a bad day or that things are just not going my way, just how fortunate I really am and have not endured nothing near the types of sacrifices Jesus did such as give his life for
