Joel Salatin wants everyone around the world to be able to overcome the corporate food system along with him, which is why he wrote, “Declare Your Independence.” Salatin’s solution to this problem is to simply not take part in the food giants game, and follow four simple steps. Salatin claims that if we teach ourselves to cook again, buy only local, buy strictly what is in season, and plant a garden, then what seems to be impossible can be possible and the corporate food system will come crashing down.

In many communities there are community gardens where neighbors get together and help one another grow simple crops that can be used in the at home kitchen setting. When people are able to get together the word of mouth is a powerful thing and can cause one person to share their experience with one person and that trend continues on and on.
