The book, Crispin The Cross of Lead take place during England at the time of the 14 century. The setting starts off in the small village of Stamford and ended in Stormford when Bear killed the steward which resulted in Crispin getting his freedom back which was taken from him after the death of his mother. Crispin and his mother are serfs which is all the way at the bottom of the feudalism pyramid. The type of government in this book is feudalism and you either are a serf, a lord, the king, or a knight/solider. The land is run by a lord and the lord in the book is Lord Furnival which is later revealed as Crispin's father. There is also the steward the one that tried to kill Crispin and the one who also declared him a wolfs head.
