On a warm September afternoon in Cobb County Georgia, a curly haired, tan boy about the age of 7 runs into his parents’ home with a giant smile on his face. Behind him is a little Caucasian, blonde haired boy of the same age. They run around the house playing and enjoying themselves. As the boys run around the little tan boy remembers the bird his parents bought for him the day before. He is excited to show it to his friend and immediately pulls his friend into his room where the bird sleeps. Over the cage lies a large blue bath towel covering up the cage. The two boys remove it and reveal a beautiful blue and yellow parakeet. The parakeet wakes up from its nap and begins to chirp and sing its beautiful bird tune. The two boys step back and the tan boy’s mother runs to bird, and proclaims to her son that his new pet is dead. His mother escorts his friend out, and calls out to his father to go comfort the little boy in his room. Through the door, a Caucasian male about the age of 35 and beginning to bald walks in the room. He wipes the tears off of his son face and says “Listen to me. I know you’re sad, but everything will be alright. You made a mistake, you will always have your ups and your downs, but in the end remember Life is an Adventure”. That little tan boy was me. After my bird died, a couple years later we got a dog that I love and cherish till this day. Without all the judgement and slander I got in middle and high school, I would have never learned to not care today. With the drama going on between Kennedy and Eric I had forgotten about the good times, like the chance to go to Panama City and have the most exciting time I had ever had. And with the accident, I had forgotten about the adventure of moving away and learning to take care of myself. Life will through some awful curve balls, but that’s what makes it an adventure. Knowing that with every day I am a stronger person because of

"One boy was whistling a show tune, at once very complicated and very simple, it seemed to be pouring out of him as though he were a bird," (Baldwin 50) the narrator thinks to himself. Hearing the news of his brother has him seeing Sonny in the people he may have never seen him in before. The boy's whistling is natural and like a bird: complicated and simple. He ultimately sees Sonny in this little boy because he is whistling with his whole heart, the same way Sonny talked about or played music with his.…

When I first read the title To Kill a Mockingbird, I was instantly intrigued. At first I wondered how a novel about a bird could be so interesting. Once I researched the mockingbird and discovered it repeatedly mimicked songs of other birds and sounds of insects, I thought To Kill a Mockingbird could be about ending a tradition or belief about a particular thing. The idea of ending a tradition or belief made sense to me given that the novel was set in the Deep South and the South often has deep rooted traditions and beliefs that go back many generations.…
