4.0 Chapter Four: Findings and Discussions
This chapter covers the analysis of the data that has been gathered from the semi-structured interviews. Data is analysed, and the results of the findings and discussion are provided.
4.1 Overview of the interviews
After interviewing the five participants, it was noted that MMHLS staffs and healthcare staffs do not have any understandings of lean. Most healthcare staffs do not know who the customer is in healthcare settings and what they value.
Some of the benefits that can be obtained from the implementation of lean in MMLS that was discovered in the interviews includes: improved delivery, less complicated processes, cost reduction, patients satisfaction and improved staff morale. The above benefits are direct results of lean implementation. Especially adopting lean can make staffs in MMHLS reduce writing the same information over and over. This will improve staff morale and patient care will substitute the time wasting, which will result in patient satisfaction. Improved delivery can also result in

As such, it will be very difficult to effect change. Another reason is the size of the organisation even makes it more difficult for change. It was noted that the best way to effect change in the organisation was to involve staffs at all levels in the change and also have serious engagement with the staffs that are going to be involved in the change. Communication was also discovered as one of the success factors that is critical to lean implementation. Because lean initiative involves serious change as discussed above, there should be serious engagement with the staffs that are involved in the change.
