Summary Of Chapter 1 Of Bud's 'Bud'

In life, there are many times when people have to make choices. For these choices people have rules, in the novel Bud, not Buddy a character named bud uses his rules to survive.For example rule #3 “If you got to tell a lie make sure it’s simple and easy to remember”, rule 16 “If a grown-up ever starts a sentence by saying “haven’t you heard” get ready because whatever is about to come out of their mouths will drop you head first into boiling tragedy”, rule 29 "When you wake up and don't know where you're at and there's a bunch of people around you, it's best to pretend that you're still asleep until you can figure out where you are and what to do".
In chapter 2 of the novel Bud, not Buddy we are introduced to rule #3. We're introduced to this rule as Bud is lying to Todd's mom because Todd and Bud got into a fight. Buds rule #3 states that "If you got to tell a lie make sure it’s simple and easy to remember”. Using rule #3 helps Bud survive.
