1. Busbecq mentions how well prepared they seem to be incase they need to retreat. He describes how many camels and mules were brought to heave various seeds, armour and tenting. He continues to mention how the rations are not fair, the Janissaries and higher ups are given enough food to survive, while the other men struggle and must bring supplies of their own. The men must resort to eating horse flesh. Busbecq is amazed by the patience and dedication the turkish men must have to serve. Busbecq describes how lazy and undisciplined their soldiers were compared to the Turkish soldiers. Turks are promoted from within, not regarding where they came from, but how well they perform their jobs.

This letter seems to be something Busbecq would write in a dairy, or in a letter to someone of the Turkish empire. It is very biased towards the Turks. He compares how well disciplined their army is, and how they promote from within. He describes how winning is a tradition for them, but his army is lazy and has become accustomed to losing. They get drunk and are picky with their food. Additionally, the family that you are born into influences your ranking, not how well you perform your job.
Father Simon on Safavids
1. Father Simon seems to characterize Shah Abbas as a man who is humble but also very strict. He describes how he seems to enjoy warfare and the things that surround it. Overall, Father Simon makes him about to be a well respected man, even the nobles allow themselves to be beheaded, since the Shah will make the children of the noble wealthier.
2. I think that it is fairly biased. The way that he says they were before Shah Abbas took over is very biased. He described the way that they acted towards christians, thinking that they were a disgrace of a religion. However, he mentions that since the Shah took over, only a few areas still behave that way.
