Through weeks of research, I found multiple articles supporting the idea that there are proven methods to improving the lives of LGBTQ youth and preventing bulling. The most useful article of the seven that I am using was written by Byrd and Hays. Their study gave strong indications that interventions with school staff such as teachers and counselors is vital to increased acceptance amongst students, and therefore improved lives within LGBTQ youth. Overall, most of the sources were helpful in my pursuit to find support regarding LGBTQ safe programs. Marston’s paper, Beyond Bullying, thoroughly addresses the problematic elements of various interventions currently being practiced in many schools and then provides ideas for how they can be improved.
