This was a diary entry written on November 8, 1943 after Anne was living in the annex for more than a year. As the war continued to take place in Europe, Anne started to become depressed about the silming chances of her families survival of the war. Anne tries to look on the bright side by imagining what her future would look like because she was in fear that she and her family would be discovered at any time. Anne tries to stay strong by focusing on the good but it is seen that her writing express more fear and anxiety. Due to all the anti-Semitism, Anne had to go into hiding which lead to Anne missing nature and the outside world since she is always inside. She describes her feeling of claustrophobia and entrapment with the image of nature.
