The main reason is because women were not involved in the early settlements in America. However, in the article titled “ Muslims Women in The United States” Kathleen M Moore, discusses many things regarding Muslim women in the United, whether it is in regard to their education and as well as marriage. Muslims women are acculturating because they are obtaining their education and still holding their cultural values. Moreover over, due to the fact most people have the notion that women who veil are oppressed and many of them try to do what their “Americanize” friends do by getting involved in their communities. It is all wrong most many of these women chose to veil and be as good as their Counterparts non-Muslim women. I decided to put hijab my parents did not force me to do but because these stereotypes and discriminations against the “Muslims” I did not wear it. This is a valid point because I could identify myself with it; if I was in Guinea, I would have been long married by now. However, because I am pursuing my education I am until I finish school. In the book titled Muslim Americans Youth by Selcuk R. Sirin, he discusses the lives of Muslims in the aftermath of the 9/11. There are enormous of youth who acculturate and assimilate. For instance, the images provided in the book help me get a sense of how these individuals believed the ways in which they are perceived in the American society. On page 84, one of the interviewees drew a face and divided it into two parts. One part labeled as American and the other as Muslim. My interpretation of this image is that this individual is showing that he holds both American and Muslim’s values. On the other hand, this image can be interpreted that he seems to be confused about his identity. In addition, while others are fighting for what they believe in, you see some youth hiding their religious status to avoid being discriminated in the public places. One of the interviewees spoke about this situation in which his mother told him not to reveal his religious identity.
