Milan Martinique closed the U.S. History textbook. “I hate this class! None of this stuff makes sense to me and it’s not like anyone is ever going to talk about this again after June 17th anyway”, Milan Martinique groaned aloud. As Milan Martinique got up from the desk in her room, Milan Martinique turned towards the bed and fell forward onto on the bed. As Milan Martinique’s eyes got heavier and heavier, all she could mutter was “who cares about the American Revolution? It is not like it affected history anyway”. As Milan Martinique fell off into dream land, she awoke on a Revolutionary battlefield. Milan Martinique was surrounded by injured soldiers with a baffled look on her face holding water, cotton, and bandages in her hands. Milan …show more content…
Milan Martinique looked with astonishment and mutter, “Oh my God, I am not home and in the lesson of my social studies class.” Sam looked confused and said, “What did you say?” Milan Martinique looked at her and said, “Oh it is nothing, just tell me how I can help?” A pretty white lady in a cream and blue navy gown yelled, “Samantha Lewis! It is time to leave!” Sam looked at Milan and said, “Just forget about helping …show more content…
Lewis jumped onto the horse and they were on their way. Milan looked at Sam and asked, “Well where I supposedly stay?” Sam responded in saying, “You must not really know what is going on, and well you stay in a tiny cottage on the plantation a little ways off from the property of the house with your brother and mother.” Milan Martinique asked, “Well where is my father?” Sam looked away from Milan Martinique and did not answer her. She said, “Sam…What!? Why aren’t you answering me?” Sam said, “Hush…Wait until we get home.” Milan Martinique said, “Fine.” They rode for about another 2 ½ miles in silence. When they approached the plantation Milan Martinique looked at Sam waiting for a response on her father. But Sam had jumped off the wagon and started to walk away towards the Victorian home. Milan Martinique said, “Wait…you owe me a response and explanation!” Sam looked and said, “Milan can we not talk about this now!” Milan Martinique said, “No, I deserve to know…we are speaking of my father, so talk!” Sam said, “Your father was a man who spoke his mind and was full of strength and courage. Your father was a slave for my father and he was lynched after not following an order and he was also a reader which is against the law. I am so sorry!!” Milan Martinique started to cry uncontrollably while running as far to the nearest tiny cottage Sam had spoken about. Milan Martinique was sitting on the

In David McCullough’s 1776, one of the most important years in history and the most defining year of the Revolutionary War is described in detail. McCullough focuses his writing on the important figures of the war such as King George the III and General George Washington. Describing these important figures in detail, McCullough made me feel as if I connected to the characters, unlike other narratives of the Revolutionary War that only focus on the battles and development of the ideals of liberty and freedom. Having discussed the Revolutionary War in class as well as having prior knowledge, I had a reasonably good understanding of the battles and important political figures involved in the war. However, with McCullough’s use of imagery and detailed descriptions of major battles I felt as if I was actually there with General George Washington’s troops in the trenches.…

The first point that have caught my attention in chapter 4 is the fact that, it is bieing seen the American Revolution was a substitution of one tyranny for one tyranny. Zin is trying to show us that the founding fathers were just a elite that was trying to keep the lower classes to stay in the" low class " category. In the beginning of the chapter he says that the founders was taking over land, political power and profits from the British empire. As they do that they will be able to hold back potential rebellions and create a popular support for the rule of privilege leadership. the second point would be the fact that the lower class would become very angry against the rich elites but as smart as the founders was they managed to convince…

In historical book Redcoats and Rebels, Christopher Hibbert takes a well-known story of the American Revolution, which is mostly told as a heroic story from the American perspective, and retells it from a perspective of British loyalists incorporating a lot of information from various sources. Although the book “might be useful to students of history as an introduction to historical works the author used for writing it, which are included in bibliography” (p xi), Mr. Hibbert wanted it to be readable and understandable to the general public. By its idea and subject, this book inevitably conveys a message that even the most famous story can seem as a completely new as well as be entertaining and interesting to the audience if shown from a different…
