We have met with Tracy Jenkins on December 2; Tracy works for Carlin &associate consulting company as a long term care facilities consultant, and Adjunct faculty at Waubonsee Community College. Tracy got her bachelor degree in French and concentration in business from Univ. of Illinois, she graduated from College of Duapage and received the associate degree in health information technologist in 1993 and received RHIT d credential. After 2 years she got the chance to pass the exam to be RHIA. Tracy received her master’s degree from St. Louis University. According to Tracy’s current position with Carlin and Associate, Tracy consults for 25 facilities, she has different types of facilities, such as continuing care communities; psychiatric facility, sub acute care facility and disable facility, 80% of these facilities are electronic. Some of them she consults monthly basis and others she consults quarterly basis. Tracy has many responsibilities such as train HIT staff, audit health records, assist with HIM functions, assist with state/federal/joint commission accreditation and attend Quality Improvement meetings.

On the other hand, this position has negative aspects such as; it has no benefits which mean no medical insurance, no paid vacations or pay for mileages and some facilities ‘employees avoid talking to her. However, I might be interested in following in the footsteps of Tracy because of many reasons, I like her educational path, and she motivates me to finish my HIT degree then complete my bachelor degree. I like her continuing education which give her the chance to work in different fields consequently gain more experience.
