Listener Review #3
After watching my videotape several times, I am not satisfied of my performance. It wasn’t good as I expected. I feel I was still too nervous and not confident to have a speech in front of people. I remember when I was speaking, my whole body was still shaking a lot. I couldn’t control and stop myself. When I was nervous I did stuffs that I am not used to do it. I didn’t know why I did that. For example, the jacket is the evident showed that I was too nervous. I should take it off, but I was thinking that it will help me to hide my nervousness and fear. If I took off the jacket. You could see that my whole body was shaking. When I was watching the videotape, I feel I didn’t explain my idea clearly and some part maybe hard

When it comes to speaking in front of people, I get nervous. Whether there are a few people in the room or a huge auditorium full of people. It has been an obstacle for me throughout my life. From show and tell in 3rd grade to big projects in high school, I always became flustered. I’ve always been scared of not being good enough, until one day I decided to make some changes.…

The results of my PRCA-24 were a little surprising but in a good way. I got an 84 which was much higher than I thought it was going to be which I guess reflects on the fact that maybe I don 't give myself as much credit as I should when thinking about my public speaking ability. One of the things the test made me realize is that i’m more nervous in regular life than I am nervous when public speaking, because I thought about the questions if they referred to the circumstances of everyday life. I guess that’s the benefit and downside to being a performer. Watching the video was a little bit strange for me because I’m always perceiving myself differently when I’m up there, which is partly a perspective switch but also sometimes it’s also focusing…

Areas that I feel like I have improved in during this communications 101 course is becoming more confident in speaking in front of a small crowd, learning how to write speeches, and learning how to research and prepare for speeches. Everyone 's fear is public speaking. I avoided taking this class for the longest time just because I did not want to have to take a class where its entirety was just about speaking in front of people and doing a handful of speeches being my primary grade. I needed to take this class for when I transfer over to Arizona State University in the fall of 2017 so getting this class out of the way now at the University of Nevada was more of an ideal plan rather than taking it at ASU. This class is a core pre-requisite…

The first thing I noticed in my video is that I say “umm” way too often. The first time I said, “umm” in my speech was at 0:10 and continued to say it throughout my whole entire speech. I found it quite annoying when listening to myself. It is my go to word when I am nervous and it is something I really need to work on. The second thing I noticed is that I don’t look professional when giving my speech because instead of standing up straight and tall, I lean to the side and kind of stick my hip out.…

Final Persuasive Speech Reflection Believe me when I say that my progress from then to now has come a long way. Initially after giving the persuasive speech, I felt that there has been little process in all of this time that I had spent trying to learn to communicate more effectively. Worst of all perhaps, I felt powerless to do anything to change this. This was my most practiced speech and it did not feel that way. Even the thought of having to go back and essentially relive those 7 minutes was not something I was particularly excited about.…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…

I felt that I presented much better than during my previous teaching session. I feel I could have done more to engage the audience. While I observed that most of them were paying attention, I wondered how many of them really interested about my presentation. I had thought of using humour to balance my dull image but I was afraid that this would make my teaching session slightly boring.…

On December 5, 2014, I gave a speech (toast) to my dear fellow classmates, Ms. Rich, and Mr. Jenson, on Mother Teresa. As said, I received the video of me giving the speech and from the beginning, I was excited to receive it. I wanted to know how I did and I really wanted to see if I have improved or not. I wasn’t dreading it when I was watching myself on video because I personally now feel that I became a better public speaker than what I was before. In fact I was excited to get my video after I presented because watching myself on video giving a speech does improve my speaking skills…

I sometimes get nervous about what people are thinking about my speech when I am giving it but if I don’t judge people from the audience then I will have the mindset when I am on stage that people from the audience are not judging me. Lastly, I think that I will be able to get up in front of people and give a speech without getting extremely nervous. I haven’t had much experience with speaking in front of big groups but hopefully by the end of this semester I will be very good at it without having any nervous feelings if someone asked me to give a public…
