Nevertheless, I feel I will be up to the task when the opportunity to gain such a position arises, however, I do know leadership challenges will be present. One leadership challenge that is faced in a managing partner position is having different goals and agendas. Yes, the managing partner helps the partners agree upon uniform vision, however, law firms big or small, contains diverse expertise in many different fields of law. Having a multitude of fields where attorneys practice, and will assist clients causes different markets to be looked at by different associates within the same firm. This kind of diversity in specialization results in goals and agendas being different between every member within a law firm; where one attorney may be handling tribal disputes, while others are working in contract law for corporations and other such fields. Though, having such a diverse specialization between attorneys and the firm as a whole can enrich the social and cultural structure of a firm, this diversification may also complicate the agreement in goals and allocation of firm resources, thus making the overall vision and culture of the firm hard to define (Hayse, …show more content…
The pro of such a challenge will be having a stronger culture within the firm, by gaining a multitude of personnel able to handle a diverse framework of clientele. The con, however, will be the diverse opinions on the allocation of firm resources, and the goals the firm should be working towards. Hopefully, through communication and setting up a mission that incorporates and makes important, every area of expertise within the firm, the goals and funds will be equal to each area within the firm (Hayse,
