Integrated Learning Assignment: China The integrated learning assignment that we had to focus on was scenario 6. Our group consists of a team that worked for a Non-Government Organization, and our job was to assist the Chen Family. The family is a total of four, Fu Chen and Ling Chen and their two children Kang Chen who is seven years old and will be attending the first grade and ZhenZhen Chen who is still an infant that just turned one.Fu Chen is the main source of income in the household. He is a thirty eight year old international businessman. He attended the China Europe International Business School located in Shanghai, China. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. The Mission Hills district provided a series of activities and opportunities for the entire family. The house we placed them in is exactly what they need. It is near the ocean so they have a wonderful view, it is also in close proximity to a shopping area in case they need or just want to go into town to shop or explore. For Kang Chen, the eldest son there is the Francis Scott Key Elementary School, It starts from Kindergarten to fifth grade, it’s small only have a population of 514 students which is about a 20 to one student teacher ratio, so he get all the attention he may need. It is apart of the San Francisco Unified School District, and has plenty of after school programs so Kang may be able to participate and become apart of the school Orchestra. Ling Chen wants to be active in her children’s education, so joining Francis Scott Key Elementary School’s parent teacher association would be a viable option for her as …show more content…
As a family whose only known China as their home, this drastic change could become somewhat of a culture shock to them. It may become difficult for them to adapt to american customs, which could internally cause conflict. The state of San Francisco is also known for its crime rate, stating that there’s about 67 crimes committed per 1000 people ( NeighborhoodScout, 2015). This is pretty high compared to rates in other states. They also have to worry the community itself, they have very conservative views, which may affect how the family may choose to interact with other members of the community as well. They must always be aware that their will be some type of LGBTQ influence where they chose to live, and they are going to have to learn how to deal with
