One of the first realistic fiction stories we read was “Biderbiks Don’t Cry” by Avi. I personally believe that this tory had the most important theme statement, it’s more important to accept yourself than have others accept you. This is shown when Charlie gets home from getting beat up. When Charlie tells his father what happened, he gets mad at Charlie for not fighting when he should have been taking care of his injured son. This is also shown when Charlie’s father forces Charlie to take boxing lessons, despite Charlie’s hate for fighting. When Charlie’s father talks about the class to some citizens of the town, Charlie tells everyone his true feelings.
