Henry 's story, the characters, although living in the valley, the weather was very different. In the story the characters are going through a hot and dry air around where it is hard to even smell peace in the area. In the U.S.P.S people can sense a smell of freedom and company. This feeling of traveling and gypsy at the same time. There is a smell of mud and fresh air at the same time. There was a smell of fresh and clearness in the area. The smell makes anyone who is at the area feel calm and some peace, due to the smell of the trees and rain together. It reminds those that autumn is barely kicking in, and changing the seasons now faster than ever. This particular smell of dirt, and the rain mixing down to where the soils of the land mix have the reaction of people of wondering, and of adventurous. At the same time, it makes the people smell the building of the old and even historic place more attractive. The smell that filters those in the U.S.P.S is definitely not like in O. Henry 's story of the Cisco Kid. The smell is of peace, while in his story is of vengeance, and death. The smell is not even close to what the environment is today. The smelling features of O. Henry mentioned in his "The Caballero 's Way". The features shown throughout the story are somehow related to what the U.S Post Office has to offer. They are related to the story by the way the location is seen to the naked eye, or the smell that is highly around the area, and the sensations anyone senses outside of the U.S.P.S. of the city of Hidalgo.
