Health Planning Strategies for Seniors
The purpose of this paper is to describe different health planning strategies for senior citizens. Two different health problems that may be relatable to new residents of a senior assisted living facility will be discussed. Teaching sessions will then be outlined on how to observe for signs and symptoms of depression, and to decrease the risk of accidents in the home.
Target Audience
The target audience in this paper are senior citizen residents that are new to a senior assisted living facility. Assisted living allows the senior citizen to get the help he or she may need, but still maintain as much independence as possible. Senior citizens represent a very unique part of the population. Depression
Goal
To inform senior citizen residents of an assisted living facility about depression.
Objectives
At the completion of the teaching session on depression the resident will be able to Objective 1- Discuss 3 to 5 signs of depression
Teaching Modality for objective 1- Watch movie on depression signs and symptoms (Nies & McEwen, 2014).
Objective 2- Recall 2 to 3 ways to get help for depression
Teaching Modality for objective 2- Read pamphlet on depression resources (Nies & McEwen, 2014).
Objective 3- Develop 3 different ways to combat depression.
Teaching Modalities and Content for objective 3- Brainstorming session on different ways to combat depression such as avoiding social isolation, exercise, and hobbies. Conclusion In conclusion, there are many different important health topics to teach to senior citizens. When choosing education topics as well as teaching modalities it is important to know the learning audience and what would be the best way to get the
