I selected a short book called Good for Thurgood! by Marvin Bird. There are 332 words in the book. It took 38, 55, 47 and 45 seconds for them to finish the book. They were able to comprehend the story. Some of them were looking at the pictures too. They were reading faster than I thought. The readers were all college students so it was easier for them to accomplish this task. They are familiar with vocabularies in the book and reading is easy for them. I think the result depends on the person’s reading speed and language skills. It took longer for students who are majoring in science area while it was easier for students majoring in literature. It also depends on the person’s memory. One person read aloud while others read silently.
