5 Fun Facts About Hershey Hershey is a major brand, like-it-or-not, right? Everyone knows the colossal chocolate brand sold worldwide. But does anyone know the “in’s and out’s” of it? The Hershey brand is a major company that everyone knows about. Many people don’t think about how much work goes into those delicious, simple chocolate bars. As Milton Hershey once said, “One is only happy in proportion to how he makes others happy.” Did you even know that Milton Hershey was the founder of the company? In this essay, you will learn much more about him and his dynasty.

But as the ship was being boarded, the Hershey’s didn’t board with it. For some unknown reason, the couple didn’t get on the ship. Two theories were that Catherine was sick, or that Milton’s work with his huge company kept him at home. What we do know is that when the cruiser left Milton and Catherine weren’t on it. Catherine being sick is a reasonable theory because she died of pneumonia.

No One Knows How Hershey Kisses Got Their Name The Hershey’s chocolate Company was famous for a trademark invention they named the “Kisses.” These candies were released to the market in 1907 and used to be wrapped by hand. The Kisses resembled swirled chocolate drops with a complex foiled wrapping. Workers at the Hershey factory have a theory that they were named after the sound of the chocolate drops dripping onto the pan. This is just a theory by the people working at the factory. So no one knows exactly how the iconic chocolate drops were named.

Hershey Chocolate Went To The Moon! After the world saw the Ration-D bars by Hershey, many top-notch companies in the USA were interested in them. One of these companies was the National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA. They saw how Hershey was able to mold their chocolate into being suitable for a new environment and they wanted to see if they could do it for them as well. NASA and Hershey worked together to create a chocolate bar that could last in space! They called these “Tropical Chocolate Bars” because the bars could last up to an hour in 120 degree temperatures. These chocolate bars ended up boarding the Apollo 15 along with the astronauts in 1971.

8. A Town Called Hershey Was Built For Employees Milton Hershey understood that the work in a factory or especially in manufacturing is difficult. He wanted to be the “best boss” he could be. He built a town in Pennsylvania named after the company. Hershey, Pennsylvania was built like a modern, suburban community with condos and houses for the employees and their families to live in.
