This report requested by Michele Bartosek pertains to the Alpha Kappa Psi Career Fair, hosted at Central Michigan University (CMU). While attending my first CMU career fair, I was not actively seeking an internship, but rather gaining experience and building my network. When I walked into Finch Fieldhouse, I did not expect there to be 143 tables worth of future employers, all squeezed into one gym. Although the Alpha Kappa Psi career fair was extremely overwhelming and stressful, it was beneficial to go as a freshman to understand what I can improve on at the next career fair. I understand the importance of many potential employers attending this event at this venue to maximize the opportunity for the students, however having so many people…

After a long year, I finally was back at La Semana, a week long adoption camp for kids from Latin American countries. After the joyous reunion hugs and hellos, I headed off to my classroom that I would be helping in. Glancing out the window I instantly knew that it was one of those picture perfect days. The sun already shining, and a cool breeze just strong enough to lightly brush through my hair. Back in the classroom however, the temperature was not so pleasant.…

As a possible incoming student, who not only desires to, but needs to learn and attend a favorable campus, the things that I can offer and/or bring are my experiences and skills. I will try to help enrich the campus community as much as I can. Although, my experiences and interests may be easily overlooked by some because of the simple fact that I am “only seventeen,” and that everyone is still continuously evolving. I believe I can still bring something to only help enrich the community. A particular experience that I know differentiates from others is, being Hmong.…

It was a strange feeling knowing that I would no longer be Lakeland High School’s most spirited student, but there was excitement in knowing that I would soon show my pride for Colorado Mesa. Images of my blue and white spirit wear quickly changed to be maroon and gold.…

I am an excellent ambassador of aggie values because a few of my main objective every day is to keep an open mind and to be conscious of the people around me so that I can truly soak in each moment. This allows me to keep a bilateral chain of respect between me and those I interact with. I also aim at not only meeting but also surpassing expectations and goals others have for me everyday, thusly raising the bar for excellence higher and higher. The experience of being an aggie and really learning what its like to live with integrity, doing what’s right and following through on my word, is something I will forever be extremely thankful to Texas A&M. When I was little, I wanted to be a chemist. I imagined myself in the lab coat and with goggles on, carefully pouring electric blue liquids and jade green foam back and forth into various containers, until something had exploded and I had discovered the best way to make flowers the size of people. As I grew up, I lost this fantasy, but I gained more knowledge on how I wanted to influence the world. Funnily enough, I discovered what I really wanted to do when I started working at Chick-fil-A during the summer before my sophomore year. All of my friends had warned me against working in fast food, quoting horrible smells and ridiculous customers and tons of grease.…

During winter break, Hofstra’s Honors College provided me with the opportunity to participate in their Shadowship program, where students shadow Honors College alumni at their place of work for a day. So, for one day in early January, three Hofstra students and I were able to go to Northwell Health (previously known as Northshore LIJ) and visit their finance department, with Honors College alumni, Michelle Albanese. The day consisted of the four of us meeting her department members and some of the company’s senior executives, as well as learning about the healthcare industry, with regards to business and finance. Albeit it having been a very beneficial day, I couldn’t shake the feeling of how competitive the environment was. There is a concept,…
