Summary: Business Analyst Internship

Improved Essays
I write to apply for the Business Analyst internship offered by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. As an Economics and Mathematics major at Yale, I hope to help the Fed promote economic growth; indeed, I believe that my business development experience will allow the Fed to better tackle the challenges arising from its mission.

Most people hear about the Fed’s work with monetary policy, but my work with microenterprises has taught me about the Fed’s many other programs. Just as major telecoms seek capital to build infrastructure and acquire customers, for instance, young mechanics seek capital to rent garages and buy advertisements. For the mechanic with a nonexistent credit history and little schooling, though, capital can be difficult

Alan Greenspan Commencement Speech It is a true assertion that the commencement speech as given by Alan Greenspan was both realistic and also hopeful. In fact, not at any point in the speech has Green mentioned the possibility of some people not using improper means or rather ‘cutting corners' as he terms it to achieve their success. He, however, alludes that so many individuals have used these corners in gaining both personal and professional mileages. In this light, Greenspan comprehends the occurrence of these unwarranted behaviors. He instead advocates for the attainment of success in manners that are both productive, as well as, honest.…

Ranson is a critic of the Federal Reserve and its policies. Milton Friedman, in concurrence with Ranson, claims “If Congress had been in control of monetary policy, you would not have had the Great Depression.”…

The New York Fed Staff Forecast (2015) projects the economy to grow somewhat above its potential rate, which we estimate to be around 2 percent. However, with later-stage expansion dynamics taking hold, our forecast anticipates that the unemployment rate will decline gradually to about five percent around our assumption for the natural rate of unemployment by the end of 2016. The staff view is also that the labor force participation rate and average weekly hours worked will remain near current levels with productivity growth increasing back up toward its longer-term trend. In addition, Inflation remained low over the past year, with the four-quarter change of the total personal consumption expenditures (PCE) deflator at 0.3 percent as of the…

As part of my leadership course at Grand Canyon University I was assigned to volunteer/internship in an experience that would enrich my future career. I was very fortunate to work out an agreement with the Director of Security and Safety at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona and the home of the NHL Arizona Coyotes. My current career has me working at the University of Phoenix Stadium over seeing responsibilities in security and guest services. By volunteering to work at an NHL arena, I felt it would give me insight on how other professional sporting facilities operate with the belief I would gain some experience and takeaways that would become better at my current job and possibly expose me to a bigger world within the sports/entertainment industry. During my time working at the arena I kept journal entries of each of the games that I worked at and used those documents to help reflect on what knowledge I have gained and how my Grand Canyon University experience enhanced my volunteer involvement.…

While banks are the traditional means of borrowing money, payday loan venues are the alternative means of borrowing money. Judging by the sheer volume of locations, these type of lenders are popular. Monikers of “payday loans” and “car title loans” fill the urban landscape within short distances; according to volume of locations, banks pale in comparison. Consideration of why these types of lenders are so predominant leads one to believe the lending criteria is very lenient, the clientele has stellar credit and high paying jobs, or (most likely) it is a very profitable industry.…

This recession cut the United States economy deeper than other economic crisis since World War II. The recovery of our very fragile economy remains at a very slow pace and is still incomplete. This crisis forced numerous central banks to pursue unconventional monetary policies in an attempt to fix our broken economy. It is no surprise that the Federal Reserves, in America, has control over federal fund rates, central banking system, and other operations. However, if something impacts these systems then this can create devastation to Americans and other countries. In the article With Steady Gains in Economic Outlook, Fed Leaves Interest Rate Unchanged, written by Binyamin Appelbaum, the Fed examines how Trump’s presidency can alter the interest rate and how that can affect employment, consumers, inflation, job market, and other factors (Appelbaum). If the federal fund rate remains unchanged then, the economy will have a greater chance of growing.
