In the article “Building Diversity in Organizations”, it presents a human service organization that was worrying about the lack of diversity for the higher rank. This organization had a diverse of people as clients and staffs; however, the board was lacking the idea of diversity.
When I was interning at the Arc of the Triangle, my supervisor had stated that they were struggling to have a diverse group of people on the board. On the board, they had people with different occupations, but not age and ethnicity. Furthermore, she noticed that they used the same methods every year to fundraise and she wanted a few input from her interns after they finished their projects.
