Dear Financial Aid Committee,
I would like to thank the committee for taking their time to review my letter of appeal for financial aid reinstatement. I would also like to thank you for giving me this financial aid award to further my education and pursue my dreams. I appreciate everything that the financial aid committee has done for me. It would be an honor and a privilege to continue my education that I’ve already started before I sustained some setbacks.
I take responsibility for the unsatisfactory of my academic progress. Because of my emotional state of mind during an incident that occurred, this caused me to lose track of maintaining the required GPA I needed and for that reason I am truly sorry.

Dear Carolyn Boles Scholarship Committee, I have had a great first semester in college full of learning and meeting new people. I studied extremely hard the entire semester and was determined to get the best grades possible. My favorite class was psychology and I received a very good grade in the class, so I was asked to become a mentor for the class next school year. I also decided to work toward receiving a minor in health psychology because I loved the class so much. In another one of my classes, we learned about different health field careers in order to decide if nursing was right for us since it is such a competitive major at IUPUI.…

To (All) the Colleges that Rejected Me In her Op-Ed, “To (All) the Colleges That Rejected Me”, Suzy Lee Weiss argues that colleges lie to applicants with the line: “Just be yourself,” when in reality, they only accept a specific kind of student. Weiss’s argument is weak however, as Weiss fails to use any logos to back up her claim and instead comes off as a close-minded, slightly racist and homophobic privileged teenager simply ranting about not getting in, whom is not the type of student elite colleges seek to accept. Though her argument is weak, Weiss starts off her Op-Ed well, stating in the first sentence: “Like me, millions of high-schoolers… are asking themselves this week how they failed to get into the colleges of their dreams.”…

It was during this time that I faced with several rattled students looking to me for emotional support and guidance.…

I was born in Germany with a German mother and an American father. The benefit of being born into a German family and living in Europe for the first ten years of my life was the greatest privilege I experienced throughout my sixteen years of living. However, my father was in the military at the time causing for a slight pressure to always be prevalent for the duration of my younger years. This mainly revolved around the fact that my sister was able to grow up in Germany and I wanted that same opportunity. Soon after these aspirations were formed, they became mere dreams that never would be fulfilled because my dad was given orders to either move to Mississippi or Oklahoma, which both deemed to be the middle-of-nowhere.…
