Like I said earlier the movie was made in 1941 so it was based on the early 40s and it took place in San Francisco. The main characters where Sam Spade ( Humphrey B.), Miss Wonderly ( Mary Astor), Joel Cairo (Peter Lorre), Mr. Gutman ( Sydney G.), and Iva (Gladys G.). The story is about a detective Sam Spade who has Miss Wonderly come to his office in search for his help. But once Sam Spade’s partner goes to investigate Miss Wonderly’s case he is killed. His death is what drives Sam Spade to continue the investigation and avenge his partners death. He soon gets involved with the local gang and through deceit and misfortune he ends up in a conundrum and tries to find a way out. I just really liked seeing how he would get out of the situation or what lie he could come up with to manipulate the person. I didn’t like the scenes where his assistant acted very close to him and only appeared a few scenes the movie made it look like they had a history but didn’t follow up with it and kinda let it die. I would’ve liked to see what they’re history was or even if they still had any history there at all. The lesson that I took from this movie is that money can make people change drastically. I think others will learn that money causes nothing but trouble and
