From her childhood, up until adulthood, Sultana refused men’s attempts to subjugate her to their oppressive ways. She knew that in order to change society she must first implement changes into her own life. After seeing her own sister’s suicide attempt because of her loveless, forced marriage, Sultana vows to marry only for love. Though Sultana originally found happiness in her marriage, she eventually finds out that her husband does not stray as much as she believed from the stereotypical, oppressive Saudi Arabian man. After a traumatic experience, Sultana heartbreakingly learns she no longer can bear children. Sultana believes her husband accepts this fact, but eventually, he asks Sultana if he may take another wife so that he can have more children. Sultana does not take this question lightly, and lost for words she transports all the strength in her body to one of her little fists and punches him with all her might. She then takes their children from the palace and flies them across the country to escape their father’s tyrannical actions. Sultana also fearlessly stands up for the rights of women openly in public risking her own incrimination. Though at times risky and controversial, Sultana never strays from her core values and refuses to allow men to treat her as anything less that equal throughout her
