I found it Suleyman to be very impressive. The people that were part of the Ottoman empire believed the same about him. He strove the Ottoman Empire to conquering many and most of its lands, Sultan Suleyman conquered great cities, and brought military machines, a lasting culture to the great Ottoman Empire. Most of the history of this empire lies on the achievements around this one ruler who was high minded and had lots of dignity and pride. Suleyman called was now called “The Magnificent” for his numerous achievements and was also named the “Law-Giver” for the laws he established as he conquered many cities. Suleyman ruled with self-respect and fairness according to the Ottoman political theory. In the Ottoman state, most of the power rested with the monarch. What really advanced the empire was the powerful military they had along with the expansion they recovered in each new area they conquered. I love the architecture the empire had and designed as well. It’s also incredible how long the empire was around, over 600 years is a very long time and especially in that time things were much harder than they are now. Sadly, nothing lasts forever, and they did fall from grace. Once other countries in Europe started becoming wealthy and having more technological advances they started posing more of a threat to the empire as well as nationalism. World War 2 was when they finally collapsed and were conquered by Turkey. Everything that the video discusses and elaborated on was all new information to me and the book did not really explain it nearly was well as the video did. I thought it was unfortunate that they did so well for so long and were on such a notable journey but then slowly declined, and I find it ironic that it really started once Suleyman died. If his name in history is “The Magnificent” then he must have really been
