Suicide: your last mistake
“Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S.A” (American Foundation for suicide prevention). In many places law states that life is a basic human right. But taking your own life is a clear violation to these laws, as well as a biggest mistake you’ll commit. The media is portraying suicide as an over glorified choice of action someone can take over a simple problem. I believe that even though life is hard, committing suicide shall never be an option. Just because media portrays this epidemic as something good you should not follow this example. There are many factors involving recent news, series, etc.…. Which then the media uses to glorify the thought of suicide. Such as celebrities committing suicide …show more content…
In the series Hannah the protagonist decides to take her own life after receiving unjust and poor treatment by her classmates and so called “friends”. The series serves as an example of the glorification of suicide, because even though the series created a debate an opened up the theme for schools and families to speak about it, people could get the wrong message. By this means anyone with the opportunity and chance to open up Netflix and watch the series without supervision, can take it as the perfect example to take revenge on anyone that has hurt them and take their own lives. If the series if watched with a family member or on class with an expert psychologist or counselor it can be used as an example and can educate teenagers on the subject and why it’s wrong and a mistake. Nonetheless the series then tries to improve on its mistake by showing how after what she did everyone that loved her and appreciated her suffered her death. Her death was due to many factors that many common people deal with in their everyday life, but because she did not seek help from someone out of the school such as the law, a psychiatrist she then decided on her own that death was the best option. The series as well depicts the gruesome and horrifying scene of suicide almost at the end of the season but by this fashion to relieve some of the comment …show more content…
Because we live in an era of technology and teenagers have access to the aforementioned technology and are influenced by what they see and read online. Thinking that if they do this then after death people would care for them such as with the celebrities and regret what they did to them. But I hate to be the bearer of bad news but life moves on and the only thing accomplished with you killing yourselves is making your family have to go through and deal with the pain and suffering of your death. Because as said before by many including the bible “we came from dust, we will become dust once
