Consequently, individuals who are diagnosed with depression would easily have a negative attitude, lose interests and hope, and worst of all, choose suicide to end the sadness. In the article by Joel A. Blanco and Lynn A. Barnett, “The Effects of Depression on Leisure: Varying Relationships Between Enjoyment, Sociability, Participation, and Desired Outcomes in College Students”, they state that “Depression leads to negative mood and affect, difficulty experiencing enjoyment in chosen activities (anhedonia), and a reduced desire for social interaction” (458).
