Introduction The articles that I read where about suicide in the military and suicide in the general population of the Unites states. While reading I found that Suicide in the military where caused by several driving factors increased stress, age, mental disorder and many more, according to the Megan Meier foundation Suicide is the second most leading cause of death of people in the United States within the Age group of 15 to 24 years of age. According to Eaton, Messer and Hoge 50 percent of the United States Military personal are within the age group of 17 to 24 years of age. This could be one of the leading cause of suicide in the Unites States Military.
Both genders are susceptible to suicide but the methods of which suicide is carried out differ. According to Martin he found a study done by the CDC found that males are more successful at taking their own life. This is mainly due to the fact that males are more likely to use firearms while females are more likely to poison themselves. A study done by the CDC found that males are 50 to 60 percent more likely to use a firearm than a female. As a criminal justice major at Husson University I have learned that the reason for this is because females are more concerned about how the look after they die, and to them the use of a firearm is too messy.
