According to AFSP(American Foundation for Suicide Prevention), around 44,193 teenagers each year commit suicide because of stress. This is the problem that plans are being made to solve, and with help, solving it will be no problem! What are some things that could be changed? “Take away homework.” Sadly no, grades would plummet if we did that. “Fire that one evil teacher that gives thirty pages of homework everyday.” Nope, sorry everyone has different opinions on teachers. “Make transition time between classes longer.” That can be done! Chelsea Middle School does have too little passing period times, the bell system can be upgraded.
The problem here is that kids don’t have a long enough time to get to class, therefore causing stress. Stress is definitely not a good thing to have in middle school. This problem will be stopped by a bell system upgrade. Chelsea Middle School’s bell system has a four minute passing period time, but with the upgrade, the passing period time will become eight minutes. Students already have too much to carry in middle school, physically, and mentally. Mental stress eventually leads to bad consequences, like depression or suicide.

The bells will not only have a longer time in between the dismissal bell, one minute bell, and late bell, but the chime will be changed, too. It is unknown at the time what the new chime will be, but it will most likely be a tropical bird sound, or a seagull cawing with wind and waves in the background. The bell chime needs to be something calming, but fun. Suggestions for the new bell chime will be taken after the conference. If the bell system is upgraded, students will not have to rush to class, which can reduce stress, stop running in the hallway, and stop children crashing into each other and possibly getting injured in the
