Everything that happened in Hannah’s life is very relatable to what most teenager go through daily. Suicide among teens happens all the time. Those suicides are usually the aftermath of extreme bullying and ridicule from peers. In this novel you will experience, Jessica Day being raped while passed out drunk while her boyfriend was outside of the bedroom and Hannah hiding in the closet. Afraid of what this rapist football player would do to her, she sat frozen in the closet not doing anything to help. Both Hannah and Justin let this rape happen and didn’t try to stop it. And both of them had to live with that night. Unfortunately, for Hannah it weighed too heavy on her mind and it drove her to suicide. These extreme things do happen in real life and brining awareness to it is something Asher did in this novel. 13 Reasons Why, is a book that I enjoyed reading and would recommend. It brings awareness to how badly people treat people. When you treat someone badly it affects them way more than people realize. As Hannah copes with the mistreatment daily at her high school it gets to the point that she can’t take it anymore and took her own life. Hannah used these tapes to not get anyone in trouble but to make these people that hurt her understand what they did lead up to her final
