The true purpose of soma is to hide the fact that all of the citizens of the world are literal slaves working on assembly lines that keep the system working. Essentially they are doing very little with their life at all, have no self-identity, don’t have any meaningful skills and have only done menial labour for their entire existence, while all throughout their feelings, emotions, and thoughts, were actually predetermined and planted in their head while they were sleeping as a child.
