It alludes to the idea that through empathy and compassion, we have the ability to help someone begin their journey to recovery, even when their struggles aren’t obvious. Suicide isn’t going away; whether or not 13 reasons why exists, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s happening in society. We are hindering the decrease of adolescent suicide rates by conforming to complicit silence. But this can change, if we choose to open up
