I infer that Sugar’s feeling towards Sal are that she misses her and that she longs for Sal. Even though Sugar is not coming back to Sal and her dad the postcards Sugar sent to Sal were loving and affectionate. They showed that Sal’s mother wanted to see her daughter and that she missed her. An example of a postcard that Sugar sent was, “Here I am in the Badlands, missing you terribly,” or, “This is Mount Rushmore, but I don’t see any presidents’ faces, I only see yours.” (Chreech 51-52) This shows Sugar has loving feelings towards Sal even though she left her.
