You take one sip and now you’re done for. You can’t stop and don’t know if you ever will. You are now addicted to sugar. This means that you are now at risk for obesity, liver damage, brain damage, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and even death. Sugar is very addictive and sugary drinks pass the line with their amount of sugar. Warning labels are one great way to help us make better decisions. Now, don’t get me wrong, sugar is good and great to have. In fact sugar held=s our body to provide energy for the long tiring days. The average amount of sugar that we can have and is okay for us every day is somewhere between 4 to 9 teaspoons according to the American Heart Association. The exact number depends on your age and height. A 12-ounce can of soda has 8 teaspoons. This will be on top of everything else that you ate that has sugar in it. Also, your body absorbs sugar in liquids more quickly than in solids. Drinking a can of soda is lie sending a top of fructose to your liver. Was that really worth it? Sugary drinks are a threat to our health, from obesity to cancer. Sugar makes you gain weight and since it is so addictive, the situation usually goes downhill from here. Sugar makes you as a higher risk of heart disease from a 7% before to 25%. Sugar also affects our brain in almost the same places as …show more content…
Since sugary drinks lie soda are the main threat to our hearth and that is what we must apreoach. Also, some beverage companies that make these killer drinks are starting to sponsor organizations that try to help people get fit and healthy, but this is only to make up for the damage they have already caused and are making. Warning labels are not the only solution though. Decreasing serving sizes, making sugar limits, adding a sugar tax , and teaching what the nutritional fact mean can help American and even encourage the whole world to decrease sugar
