Giardia is most common in Sugar Gliders. Giardia is a protozoan parasite that is easily found in fecal matter. Symptoms very between dehydrating, weight loss, loss of appetite, lethargy, or diarrhea. Some don’t even show any symptoms. They get it due to unclean water supply and unwashed fruits or vegetables. They rarely get mites, ticks or fleas. Every 6 months they should be taken in for a fecal exam. If diagnosed with Giardia most owners will use water purifiers or bottled spring water. Next we have Bacterial infections. It comes from un-sanitized hands when handling food. Going in for a culture is expensive but necessary. Pesticide poisoning is another one.
