Suddenly Gone Suddenly gone is a thrilling, true tale of how one man, with very little help, murdered three girls in their mid twenties. Richard Grissom was the maintenance man at the apartment complex of the murders. He had a master key to everyone’s room and just let himself in, thus, there were no signs of forced entry. The girls were Joan Butler (24), Christine Rusch (22), and Theresa Brown (22). There was a fourth and fifth attack, Michelle and Terri, but Michelle got away and Terri was found. The other three girls were not only murdered, their bodies were never found. Dan Mitrione, the author of the book, inquired his information through interviews with witnesses, judges, attorneys, police, and victims’ families. Each person’s unique …show more content…
One day, Terri did not come in to work and did not call, and her co workers and family became worried. Her next door neighbor C.J., who was a cop in the town, was summoned by Terri’s parents to look through her apartment and see if Terri was there, though her car was not. “Stepping from the stairs into the recreation room, the veteran officer was shocked to an abrupt halt. Through the first 7 pages of the book, the story had built up enough suspense, that even though the reader saw it coming, the murder came as a shock. After Joan butler’s murder, Grissom stole her car, and police tracked it down. He fled the vehicle and ran to a phone to call Thibodo. He picked Grissom up and they went to the apartment complex where he murdered Joan.”As the pickup approached the complex, Grissom ordered,’Slow down, slow down. I want to see what’s happening’”(Mitrione 69). After, they went to Grissom’s apartment in Lenexa. Grissom packed his things and left. He also left his painting and maintenance, Apex, business to Thibodo. He had found a Toyoda and told Thibodo to tell the cops that he was in California. Grissom was on the run
