This paper will focus on an interview performed on February 28, 2016 and the interviewee my mother-in-law, who lost her husband to a tragic accident on October 11, 1984, leaving behind two young daughters. While driving his car to attend class at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Her husband drove his car across a set of railroad tracks. The fog made it impossible to see a train approaching through the unmarked and controlled tracks the train stuck his car. He was rushed to the hospital, but despite the efforts of the medical staff she had lost her husband. There she was a 25 year old mother with two daughters both under the age of five and now a widow. The thoughts of how am I supposed to live in a world without my husband. She felt lonely, a huge sense of loss, and as if a piece of her heart had broken, a piece that could never be put back. You can still hear the sound of grief in her voice when discussing this. Time can heal wounds but the scars never fade and act as constant reminder of that day in her
